What does altered mean? Just a doll with a tweak here and there (very long arms, for example) to give them a slightly more distorted and unsettling style. 
Made with cotton fabrics. Her face is shaded/drawn with ink and her hair is made with yarn and glued into place. She has velcro on her "hands" to stick them together.
